Creative aspects of writing lyrics

I have discussed about this with some knowledgeable sifus before.
Does translating song lyrics from either Chinese or other languages into Hakka in anyway constitute creativity. I explained the process
that we cannot just take a song lyrics and translate it as is.
To be singable into hakka some words and rhyme modification is required and sometimes at the sake of modifying its original meanings.
But the whole idea of the song being translated will remain intact.
While translating lyrics does constitute creativity it may not be as hard core as writing an entirely new lyrics for a melody. I still have some difficulty delving into this and giving the amount of time required in this creativity process. I tend to step back and take the translation path which can be done in a matter of minutes.

I am training myself to do more of the second process which is to write entirely new lyrics for the same melody. I found myself lack of inspirations and materials to begin with. So to deal with this, I have requested the singers themselves to pick up the songs they want to cover and write a short letter or message to express their feelings or to tell the story they want to deliver to the audience. I have learned that I can expand easily from these message and applying native phrases and natural rhyming on to the lyrics, it will come up quite well. Hopefully, I will produce more and more hakka lyrics of this genre in the future and bring supreme hakka song experience to our faithful audience.
