How to guess among pinyin systems.
How can I tell some one wrote "mee kuot" and it means America,
While I myself write "mui ket"?
Easy. Just remove all the vowels. M KT = M KT. That's the basic of language.
The vowels is very week and tend to change frequently, but the consonant rarely change.
However beware, due to different spelling systems, consonants can also vary.
Basically v, b, p, ph is one group. You can apply a sliding window.
Its either v, b, p in one system or b, p, ph in another system, now you can shift them back and forth.
The other group is g, k, kh. This one is easier, slide fuzzily to either "g, k" or "k, kh".
Further is group d, t, th. Shift back and forth from either "d, t" or "t, th".
Another group is the c = j, ch = q, x = s.
I hope now you can have a fuzzy feeling and read thru all the pinyin more easily.
